Mr. Lands is certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene and is a certified Asbestos Hazard Abatement Specialist in the state of Ohio.
He has over 15 years of environmental and industrial hygiene experience. His experience includes hazard recognition and exposure assessments, indoor air quality investigations, OSHA compliance program evaluation and development, mold and asbestos abatement oversight, product testing, environmental due diligence, and expert witness testimony. Mr. Lands has provided hands-on fieldwork and chemical management planning for organizations ranging from small private companies to Fortune 500 firms. He has conducted over 150 employee hazard assessments in aviation, automotive, chemical manufacturing, food processing, metal fabrication, paper, polyester, rubber product, and steel facilities. Additionally, he has conducted over 200 indoor air quality investigations involving mold, asbestos, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen sulfide. Mr. Lands also has evaluated and written safety programs for compliance with OSHA standards in hospital, industry, and laboratory research settings. His abatement experience includes the development of specification and project oversight for mold and asbestos removal projects. Mr. Lands has been involved in several projects that researched the effects of various products including evaluation of elemental lead releases from metal candle wicks, research testing the effectiveness of various bone cement mixing systems, and performing evaluations on a prototype exhaust system intended for installation in retail optical laboratories. Mr. Lands' expert witness experience includes addressing indoor air quality issues in residences and OSHA compliance issues at major industrial sites.
Prior to joining UAI, he had environmental, health, and safety experience at the corporate (Mead Corporation), manufacturing (automotive), and governmental (Ohio Environmental Protection Agency) levels.
